The project comprised the construction and delivery of a 100 bed residential healthcare unit, The Aberdeen Centre, for Peamount Healthcare on their existing campus in Newcastle, Co. Dublin. Extending to c. 6,700sq.m over 2 no. floors, the building is arranged as 2 interlocking squares with private courtyards, all within a parkland environment, to provide 50 no. replacement residential beds for older persons, in addition to a new 50 bed rehabilitation unit.
The Aberdeen Centre was subsequently awarded Health Project of the Year at the Irish Construction Industry Awards 2020. Receipt of this award – which recognises originality, innovation and excellence in the construction of a healthcare facility – is an incredible achievement for all involved but also an affirmation of the collaborative spirit which underpinned the project from the outset.
