IPM were appointed by the Royal Dublin Society as project managers for the phased redevelopment of a number of buildings on the RDS campus. Phase 1 of the proposed redevelopment of the world-renowned 42-acre RDS campus comprised the construction of 2 landmark office buildings, Simmonscourt House and Minerva House. Extending to 10,200 sq.m, the 2 no. 5 storey buildings incorporate a basement car park and feature efficient and flexible floor plates, which accommodate a range of open-plan, cellular and ancillary office configurations. Whilst sharing an architectural dialogue, harmonised by stone cladding and glazing systems, each retains its own aesthetic identity in detailing and pattern. Through careful orientation, the buildings envelop an outdoor landscaped piazza, facing Simmonscourt Road and the existing Showgrounds beyond. Simmonscourt House and Minerva House were the first developments in Ireland to achieve the BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating, a hall mark of energy efficiency and sustainability.
